ARES receives Independent Press Award - Award Badge

SANTA MONICA, CA — The INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD, one of the most prestigious book award programs globally for independent authors, publishers, and illustrators, recognized Ares by Jayson Adams as a Distinguished Favorite in the category of Science Fiction.

Experts from different domains of the book industry, including publishers, writers, editors, book cover designers, and professional copywriters, judge the event. Selected IPA Award Winners and Distinguished Favorites are selected based on overall excellence.

“I’m so excited and honored that Ares has received an Independent Press Award,” said Adams. “While writing the novel, I had the persistent sense that the story held a unique spark. Having this feeling affirmed by Ares being named a Distinguished Favorite is immensely rewarding.”

“The 2024 INDEPENDENT PRESS AWARD honorees represent the excellence and diversity of global independent publishing,” said Gabrielle Olczak, IPA President and Award Sponsor.  “Independent publishing is a formidable agent.  It provides unparalleled content and quality to consumers worldwide and we are proud to highlight this year’s awardees.”

Ares follows Commander Kate Holman, leader of the first manned mission to Mars, who learns a secret, military objective is the true reason for their journey. Shortly after landing, the mission’s security officer unearths an item from beneath the fabled “Face on Mars.” Is it an exotic, new element? Evidence of life? An alien artifact? Scurried away by the security officer, she can only speculate. An astronaut dies; systems malfunction. Some claim it’s the result of a Martian “curse” that won’t lift until the item is returned. When Kate uncovers the nature of the item, a secret some would kill to protect, can she overcome the powerful forces allied against her and make it back to Earth?

Ares is available now, in paperback and eBook, from Amazon. You can read several chapters by visiting our Ares page.
